Inventory first, migration second.
Before moving a server, list services, ports, domains, SSL certificates, databases, cron jobs, queues, storage paths, users, firewall rules, DNS records and monitoring checks.
Prepare destination server
- Install matching runtime versions and packages.
- Create users, SSH keys, firewall rules and access controls.
- Copy data, verify permissions and test services before DNS change.
Keep rollback real
Do not destroy the old server until logs, traffic, backups and application behavior are verified after cutover.
